Chinese Porcelain Plate - Chinese Imari Style - Late 19th Century.
Elegant Chinese porcelain plate in the Chinese Imari style, dating from the late 19th century. This style, inspired by Japanese Arita decorations, was very popular in Europe from the 18th century onwards and was adopted in China for export. The central decoration features a cobalt blue rocaille vase containing a bouquet of peonies and chrysanthemums, symbols of nobility and harmony. The composition is framed by a red-orange and blue floral frieze with geometric and plant motifs. The palette consists of the three traditional colors of Chinese Imari: • Bright orange-red • Underglaze cobalt blue • Light green and pale gold enamels (possibly) Condition: very good general condition, some wear consistent with age, without visible cracks or chips. Origin / Creation: This piece most likely comes from the Jingdezhen workshops, known for having produced high-quality export porcelain for European markets (France, Holland, England) from the 17th century, and which continued this production until around 1900.
