"Voigtländer & Sohn Brass Photographic Lens Circa 1843"
Rare view camera lens by Voigtländer & Sohn in Wien, dating from the early years of photography (circa 1843). This model is considered one of the first industrially produced portrait lenses, inspired by Joseph Petzval's optical calculation, which revolutionized the sharpness and brightness of images in the 19th century.
Made of hand-turned and engraved brass, the lens bears its serial number, characteristic of the early productions of the Voigtländer house, founded in 1756 and a pioneer in the design of modern optics.
The example has a beautiful original patina. The focusing system works perfectly, comes with its original protective cap.
