"Gilt Bronze Skeleton Clock Empire Period Early 19th Century"
Skeleton clock in gilt bronze Empire period early 19th century. The white enameled dial signed "Bergmiller à Paris" indicates the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals, it is encircled by a large frieze of openwork scrolls and surmounted by an Imperial eagle accompanied by delicately chiseled gilt bronze flowers. The base is formed by two circular bases joined by four baluster-shaped columns in richly chiseled gilt bronze and reveals the original pendulum decorated with an Imperial eagle. It rests on four small ball feet, mercury gilding with original double patina in very good condition cleaned by our workshop (light wear and small old restoration on the dial). Original wire movement striking the hours and half hours, revised by our clockmaker. Our clock is engraved on the upper base "M.Dosseur" according to our research it would be a collector of French antiques from the 19th century who would have sold certain pieces of his collection to Museums such as the Louvre Museum.
