Very elegant 18th century solid mahogany pedestal table with an oval top surrounded by an openwork and gilded bronze gallery.

The finely fluted shaft rests on a tripod base with a skate foot. It features a rack allowing for height adjustment and bears the C. Topino stamp (for Charles Topino, who became a Master Cabinetmaker on July 14, 1773), as well as the hallmark of the Master Cabinetmaker (JME).

Charles Topino was a Master Cabinetmaker full of talent and imagination. He never ceased to invent charming and diverse furniture pieces with a perfect finish.

His production is distinguished by highly individual pieces, primarily belonging to the Transition and Louis XVI styles. He was particularly fond of a curious marquetry of household objects (teapots, cups, writing desks, etc.) found on small pieces of furniture such as bonheurs du jour or coffee tables.

He specialized in small, delicate, and fragile pieces of furniture. Our pedestal table is a perfect example of its craftsmanship and quality.
