Very beautiful oil on plywood panel representing a landscape of the gorges of the Aveyron with in the background on the heights, the village of Penne du Tarn, ancient citadel between Albigenses, Quercy and Rouergue (at the borders of the Tarn and Tarn et Garonne).
Landscape painted with a generous pictorial technique, a thick paste associated with a rich palette of colors, all in a post-impressionist style which gives this work a beautiful brightness.
Oil signed at the bottom right 'Pierre Billard', countersigned and located on the back.
Painter from Bordeaux (Tonneins 1900-- Bordeaux 1971), Pierre Billard painted many landscapes of the South-West. He was a member of the workshop group and exhibited to the Bordeaux independents.
