Dimensions: Length 68 cm. Height 49.8 cm. Dimensions with frame: Length 86.2 cm. Height 67.4 cm. Auguste Cammissar (1873-1962) is a French artist of international stature born in Strasbourg. The son of a glassmaker, trained at the Karlsruhe Academy, he perfected his skills in Munich, Vienna and Strasbourg, and was a full professor at the School of Decorative Arts in this city from 1896 to 1940. Among his students were Kamm, Allenbach and Luc Hueber. He studied the technique of opal glass and produced numerous stained glass windows in collaboration with the artist Paul Braunagel (1873-1954). He participated in the first Venice Biennale in 1895, won a Gold Medal in Karlsruhe in 1901, a Gold Medal in Dresden in 1906, and a Gold Medal at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1925, as an interior designer. His works are exhibited at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Strasbourg.
