Object description :

"Anatomical Human Skull – Cabinet Of Curiosities – Medical Study – Vanity, Memento Mori"
Late 19th century France Former private collection, Massif Central Complete human skull, from a former anatomical study. A fragment of life frozen in the silence of time—a vestige of flesh that became a subject of observation, then an object of meditation. The surface, polished by the years, blends the hues of honey and chalk, that warm nuance specific to bones that have experienced the slow patina of dust and gaze. The perfectly visible sutures, the hollowed eye sockets, the delicate relief of the temporal bones, and the teeth still in place create a presence that is both striking and peaceful. There is neither violence nor artifice here, but the trace of a passage: a form that bears witness, a memory that has become pure form. This type of skull often belonged to the collections of anatomists or artists, used for the study of drawing, medicine, or sculpture. It was also, in the Romantic era, a symbol of vanity, a discreet reminder of human fragility, of fading beauty, of life passing away. The natural patina, the porous and soft material, the small coherent gaps reinforce its character as an object of study, thought and contemplation. Condition: good general condition, stable surface, small gaps consistent with age. Important note: this skull is presented as an object of study and historical collection, in compliance with the legal and ethical framework relating to the conservation of human remains. ALL DELIVERIES ARE MADE BY DHL EXPRESS ONLY.
