The lot includes four different types – water, white wine, red wine, and flutes – each type consisting of 10 glasses, for a total of 40 pieces.
Each glass is mouth-blown in very fine crystal with exceptional clarity, then engraved with arabesques inspired by the work of the great Renaissance artist Michelangelo, hence the name of the service.
The Michelangelo model is listed in the 1933 Baccarat “Arts de la Table” catalogue and was created in 1927.
This set is considered antique, as it does not bear the Baccarat hallmark. The dating is therefore between 1927 and 1936, the year when the crystal manufacturer began systematically acid-etching its mark on tableware pieces.
Condition: excellent, with no chips or scratches; crystal is clear and perfectly preserved.
