Pair of cruets and their tray in formerly gilded silver. Circular foot and embossed ovoid body, decorated with a different chiseled decoration on each cruet: On the wine cruet: bunches of grapes On the water cruet: bouquets of rushes Both pieces also feature a crown of palm leaves as well as a frieze of water leaves, both on the foot and on the top of the body. The pouring spout is flared, with high curved edges. The added handle is crosier-shaped, decorated with acanthus leaves, pearls and bunches of grapes. The oval tray is bordered by a frieze of water leaves and fitted with positioning pins for the cruets. France, circa 1840 950/1000 silver, title hallmarks (Minerva's head) Master silversmith's hallmark: Jean-Baptiste Garnier (active between 1839 and 1848) Dimensions: Tray: Length 23.5 cm – Width 12.8 cm Cruets: Height 14 cm Total weight: 368 g Condition: In good general condition, with visible wear to the gilding. The cruets are watertight and ready to use. No signs of restoration.
