Watercolor “grand Tour”, Cascade Of Villa Mécène, Tivoli, Early 19th Century
Beautiful gouache, circa 1800-1850, in the spirit of Carle Vernet's works on same subject, a superb waterfall descending without restraint the foundations of famous villa of Mecene, in Tivoli,
it is a bit like a tourist photo of period, and it is striking and well painted.
We hope that the clever net fisherman will be rewarded.
Old paper, bubbled blown glass pane with bubles, resinous wood back. Silver leaf frame, a little less old.
Discovery condition, without flaws, normal signs of wear.
