"Portrait Of Maria Theresa Of Austria, Queen Consort Of France, 17th Century"
Portrait of Maria Theresa of Austria, Queen Consort of France, 17th CenturyOil on canvas, European School, circa 1660-1680, late 17th centuryOil on canvas depicting Maria Theresa of Austria (1638-1683), Queen Consort of France by her marriage to Louis XIV. The sovereign is depicted as a bust, wearing a red cloak and a silver-draped dress, held together by a blue ribbon, in keeping with the fashion of the French court in the second half of the 17th century. Her serene face and chignon hairstyle are reminiscent of the Baroque court portraits of the Versailles period. This work, from the European school (probably French or Spanish), dating from around 1660-1680, retains a beautiful pictorial quality in the modeling of the face and clothing. Framed in a 19th-century gilded frame with rocaille plant decoration, it reinforces the presence of the work. Accompanied by a period certificate attesting to its authenticity as a 17th century work.86 cm x 68 cm103.5 cm x 86 cmGood condition
