"Portrait Of Isabella Farnese, Queen Consort Of Spain, 18th Century"
Portrait of Isabella Farnese, Queen Consort of Spain, 18th CenturyOil on oval canvas depicting Isabella Farnese (1692-1766), Queen Consort of Spain by her marriage to Philip V. The sovereign appears dressed in an ermine mantle, a dress adorned with precious stones, and a pearl necklace, in an attitude of regal dignity. Her high, powdered hairstyle reflects the court fashion of the early 18th century. A work of the European school of portraiture (probably Italian or Spanish), executed around 1715-1730, coinciding with Isabella's arrival at the Spanish court. Although acquired in the 17th century, the iconography and biography of the queen confirm its origin in the early 18th century. The canvas retains a beautiful color quality and a striking naturalness, emphasizing the elegance of her attire. It is framed in a gilt frame decorated with a ribbon and rocaille decoration at the top, added in the 19th century. A historical piece of great interest for its iconography and its collector's value, linked to one of the most influential political figures of the Bourbon monarchy in Spain. 78 cm x 63.5 cm With frame: 88 cm x 73.5 cm
