Raoul Capdevielle was born in 1880 in Lourdes, at the foot of the Pyrenees. Attracted to painting at an early age, he moved to Toulouse, where he found the workshops of the pink city a setting conducive to creativity. A member of the Société des Artistes Méridionaux, he exhibited regularly between 1907 and 1910.
A painter of atmosphere, Raoul Capdevielle observed nature and beings. Sensitive to the mystery of the Pyrenean mountains and the forests of the Landes, he also distinguished himself in the representation of intimate scenes, in search of the spirit of things.
His career barely begun, the artist died suddenly in 1910, at the age of 30, leaving behind the memory of a subtle painter. The Musée des Augustins in Toulouse preserves an ambitious canvas by the artist entitled Oripeaux de gloire dated 1909.
