Reissue of a fireback, in perfect condition, with rounded corners dating from the end of the 17th century, with the arms of the Neufville de Villeroy family originally from Lorraine and established in Paris, Ile de France and Lyon. These arms are to be attributed to Louis Nicolas (1663-1734) Duke of Villeroy, Marquis of Alincourt, Duke of Beaupréau, Duke of Retz and governor and lieutenant general of Lyonnais, Forez and Beaujolais. He was made a knight of the Royal and Military Order of Saint-Louis in 1701 and a knight of the Order of the Holy Spirit in 1724. Married in 1694 to Margueritte Le Tellier de Louvois, daughter of François Michel Le Tellier, Marquis de Louvois, minister of Louis XV. Arms: Azure with a chevron or accompanied by three crosses pattées (or three anchored crosslets) of the same placed two and one.
