Eudes De Retz (1856-1930) - Mill On The Charente In Cognac - 1915 - Oil On Canvas

Landscape depicting a mill on the river Charente in Cognac. Oil on canvas signed lower left "de Retz" for Eudes Alfred François de RETZ (1856-1930), dated 1915 and located. An inscription "Chevalier" appears on the facade of a building on the right which indicates the mill of the Chevalier family working at the beginning of the 20th century. Eude de Retz is a painter of the Arras School, a school born from the meeting between Corot and Dutilleux in the middle of the 19th century. Period frame in wood and gilded stucco.

Condition report : Very good condition of the work with very slight traces of the frame at the top. Cracks in the stucco of the frame and small wear.
