A fine celadon-glazed stoneware bowl from the Si Satchanalai kilns (Sawankhalok), northern Thailand, dating from the 14th–16th century (Ayutthaya period).
The interior is beautifully carved with a lotus blossom surrounded by radiating petals, while the exterior is decorated with vertical petal panels beneath a translucent green celadon glaze. The glaze pools attractively in the recesses and shows a fine network of natural crackle typical of Sawankhalok wares.
The footring is unglazed, revealing the warm buff-to-orange body characteristic of Si Satchanalai stoneware.
Comparable examples are held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British Museum.
