"Renaissance Style Inkwell, 19th Century"
Inkwell in the shape of a spider crab in bronze. The bronze is based on a model that the city of Padua, and more particularly the sculptor RICCIO, made a specialty of in the 16th century. The small bronzes cast from life reproduced crustaceans such as crabs, spider crabs, and crayfish with the most perfect naturalism. The upper part of the shell, articulated, conceals a small ink reservoir. The model of the spider crab, in the shape of an inkwell, is rare on the market.
