"“young Woman At The Masquerade”, Painting Signed “destouches”, Original Frame, Circa 1840"
Painting, oil on canvas, representing a young woman wearing a bonnet decorated with red ribbons and flowers, dressed in a refined red Belle Epoque style costume, sitting in profile to the right on the ledge of a window whose blind is half raised. She lightly holds a Venetian ball mask, symbol of seduction and worldly games. Signed lower right "Destouches" on the windowsill. Presented in its original wooden and stucco frame from the Restoration period (around 1830-40). Condition of wear.
