A work of the famous cabinetmaker François Linke.
François Linke (1855 - 1946), was undoubtedly the most important cabinetmaker of his time.
Initially an apprentice in his hometown of Pankraz in Bohemia, Linke arrived in Paris in 1875 and founded his own workshop in 1881 on the rue de Faubourg Saint-Antoine.
Around 1900, he was at the head of a veritable company of ninety workers.
By 1900, his reputation as one of the greatest masters of high-quality furniture was made.
However, it was his participation in the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900 that marked the peak of his exceptional career !
