"the Laugher" Bronze By Félix Desruelles
Rare bronze by Félix Desruelles in sketch from 1907, cast with richly nuanced patina bearing the foundry stamp in hollow and the sculptor's signature in cursive. Félix-Alexandre Desruelles is one of the most important French sculptors. A pupil of Alexandre Falguière, François Rude, JB Carpeaux and Houdon, he exhibited at the Society of French Artists from 1885, and won a gold medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. Note: the life-size bronze laugher, Square de la Poterne in Valenciennes (1907)
