Object description :

"Lyre Clock"
Rare French Restoration period pendulum clock, dating back to the early 19th century, crafted from finely chased and fire-gilded bronze.
The richly decorated lyre structure features tritons, palmettes, and elegant swans.
The rectangular base is adorned with dolphins at the corners, with a relief of water-leaf chalices carved into the heel. It is surmounted by a large lyre, its base formed by a large acanthus leaf base. The body is flanked by two swans, resting on their wings. Their bodies frame the movement. The gilded chariot bears the hours engraved on silver balls surrounded by a chased laurel wreath. The center bas-relief depicts Neptune on a dolphin holding a lyre, and the bezel is fluted with glass. Between the wings and the swans are the lyre cores, surmounted by a palmette.
