Oil on canvas, Signed lower left. Dimensions of the canvas A pupil of Gérôme at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he enjoyed great success with his portraits and orientalist scenes. He was awarded several prizes at the Salon des Artistes Français where he exhibited from 1892 and was classified out of competition in 1904. He won a gold medal at the 1937 Universal Exhibition. During his career he received numerous commissions from the state and wealthy individuals. Brittany was also an important source of inspiration for the artist and the island of Ouessant in particular. Young Ouessantines were represented several times by Henri D'Estienne with different techniques and supports. We find in this beautiful portrait all the painter's portrait art. The Musée du Faouet dedicated a retrospective to the artist in 2013 and his paintings are often exhibited (the children of impressionism, etc.) and present in many museums in France (Orsay, Luxembourg, Quimper, etc.) and throughout the world.
