"Rafael Terrés (1959) - Somewhere In Central Spain"
Oil on canvas. Signed and titled on the back. This gigantic mural by the Catalan painter Rafael Terrés illustrates the austere and harsh reality of the hostile villages of the Spanish Central Plateau. The bell tower of a convent and the bell tower of the parish church majestically dominate the villages, momentarily piercing the azure blue sky. This Castile of Unamuno, also called Orbajosa de Galdós and Soria de Machado, is a place where life unfolds humbly, amidst the rigors of an extreme climate and the constraints of agriculture, perfecting the spirit and discipline of its austere inhabitants. Dimensions of the image without frame: 84 x 120 cm, including the pine frame.
