Sterling silver medal from the house of Lucien Falize XIX written in Hebrew with the text "Jesus- Year I, The Messiah has risen, He came peacefully and became the light of man, He lives", specifically intended for converted Jews.
Lucien Falize, born in Paris on August 4, 1839 and died on September 4, 1897, is a jeweller, writer and art critic. Precursor of the Art Nouveau movement, he is known for his richly decorated objects of art that he produced with his house Falize. Lucien Falize was strongly influenced by his visits to London in 1861 and 1862, where he went to the National Gallery, Westminster Abbey and Crystal Palace. He was struck by the Chinese, Indian, Assyrian and Egyptian exhibitions and, at the World’s Fair of 1862, he was impressed by oriental lacquers, enamels, bronzes and engravings. Lucien Falize also visits the Campana collection at the Louvre museum, where he admires a number of objects, and is influenced by the treasure trove of medieval, Renaissance, Assyrian, Egyptian and Byzantine objects.
