It is the model called "AN XI", which succeeds the model "AN IX". The blade of our example is identified as coming from the Imperial Manufacture of Klingenthal and dated February 1813.
OnFebruary 1813, we are after the disastrous Russian campaign, and it is the time of the Great Conscription, which aims to reconstitute the Grande Armée. This weapon was therefore made to equip one of these conscripts of 1813.
February 1813, it is the time of the campaign called "of Germany", or "of Prussia and Poland" difficult campaign for tired troops who no longer have the victorious momentum of the years 1806-1807.
BLADE: It is the beautiful regulation blade of the model, in a very good condition with very beautiful markings. It has 2 flat faces with a rough counter-edge on the last 16 centimeters near the point.

SCABBARD : in stitched cowhide, with scabbard entry and brass chape stapled to the leather. This is indeed the old scabbard that corresponds to the saber.
In conclusion: It is an infantry saber, historical witness of the last 3 years of the Empire, in excellent condition considering its age, with beautiful markings all precisely identified.
