Large covered earthenware pharmacy jar called "watch" or "monster". The decoration in blue monochrome of lambrequins. Two large twisted handles decorated with dots. Marked C Thériaque. This apothecary jar, probably intended for an apothecary window or dedicated to the shop of a hospital or hospice, contained one of the most precious remedies of ancient pharmacology, theriac, against poison made up of nearly 60 ingredients! This large vase is topped with a lid. Delft earthenware? Period 19th century. Good general condition.
