Polish-born painter Ladislas Kijno is considered one of the major artists of the 20th century and a master of abstraction, specializing in the technique of crumpling and spraying on canvas.
Ladislas Kijno was close to Louis Aragon, an encounter that influenced his work, often closely related to poetry.
A guest of the Venice Biennale in 1980, the artist created several monumental works for religious buildings, including the rose window of the Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral in Lille. Kijno also created a representation of the Last Supper for the church on the Plateau d'Assy, in the commune of Passy (Haute-Savoie), decorated by the greatest artists of the post-war period.
