Original drawing in graphite and colored pencils on paper, signed and dated (2012), with the additional presence of his artist's stamp Original drawing made in 2012 by the late André Juillard, elegant signature of the Ninth Art, probably the most brilliant continuator of Jacobs' work. Our drawing coincides with the publication of the Blake and Mortimer album, "The Oath of the Five Lords", in November 2012, the 21st adventure of the legendary duo. It could be the preparatory drawing for the illustration appearing on the back cover of the black cloth-backed deluxe edition of this album (special version for the bookstore Album printed in 200 copies), a numbered deluxe edition enriched with supplements including unpublished cover illustrations. An illustration very similar to our drawing also appears on the back cover among other illustrations in the continuation of the deluxe edition, numbered 350 additional copies, intended for Bruno Graff éditions. Our drawing is therefore close to the illustrations on the back cover of this deluxe edition, a special edition produced by several publishers for a total of 550 copies, a large-format luxurious edition, limited and numbered unlike the standard edition, and which will be published in 2013. This drawing signed in pencil, dated and stamped by Juillard, in relation to the unpublished covers for the deluxe edition of the Blake and Mortimer album "The Oath of the Five Lords", portrays one of the heroes of Blake and Mortimer, the brilliant professor, inviting us to delve into both the matrix of this great designer but also behind the editorial scenes of Blake and Mortimer, a legendary comic strip adventure whose latest album, "Signed Olrik", has just been published, Juillard's final offering to the monument invented by Jacobs.
