"Important Metal Armillary Sphere, Astrolabe, Signed Stolnikoff. (112cm X 99cm X99xm)"
Large metal armillary sphere consisting of six large rings and a brass sphere. These rings are connected by a central axis allowing them to rotate horizontally independently of each other. This armillary sphere rests on a base also made of metal. This work is by Anatoly Stolnikoff, it is signed on the base. Anatoly Stolnikoff (born in 1955) is Belgian, of Russian origin, born in Léopoldville. He lives between Paris and Brussels. The artist Kinga Bardos-Feltoronyi later joined Stolnikoff while developing her own work as a painter and photographer. They currently live and work in Paris. Their works, exhibited and published regularly, are found in public collections such as the Musée des Arts anciens du Namurois, the Royal Museums in Brussels, and the Keramis Center in La Louvière. We have found a few rare armillary spheres by this artist, much smaller in size, around 35cm in diameter. This piece is in good condition. Its dimensions are spectacular: 112cm in height, 99cm in diameter. The base measures 40cm x 40cm. The weight is also quite substantial, around 80kg.
