Biography: Maurice Rogerol, born in Douai (Nord) on March 26, 1873 and died in Taza (Morocco) on May 5, 1946, was a French painter and sculptor. Maurice Rogerol was born into a family of artists. His great-grandfather was a pewter potter and had a workshop located on rue Gambetta in Douai where he worked pewter with four workers. Brother of the painter, sculptor and ceramist Henri-Émile Rogerol (1877-1947), he received artistic training at the Douai School of Fine Arts. Several of his works are preserved in the museums of Douai, such as the Portrait of Madame Simone Mouton at the Musée de la Chartreuse.
