Louis XV chest of drawers curved on all sides, stamped Denis GENTY on the front upright, from the 18th century. It is in Rosewood Marquetry arranged in Leaves, in Amaranth Frames. It opens on the front with 2 large Drawers, fitted with gilt Bronze Handles. It is topped with its Campan Marble with a Corbin Beak all around. It stands on slightly arched Feet, fitted with Small Closed Gilt Bronze Clogs. It measures 97 cm in Length, 53 cm in Depth and 83.5 cm in Height. It is in very good condition. Denis GENTY is a cabinetmaker in Paris. Received Master on March 13, 1754. Both cabinetmaker and furniture merchant, he practiced in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine then rue de l'Échelle-Saint-Honoré. Genty left his mark on furniture treated with great taste in the most charming Louis XV style. Denis Genty, received his mastery in 1754. He first settled in the Faubourg Saint Antoine where he was considered one of the most important carpenter-cabinetmakers of the district. A few years later, he moved his workshop to rue de l'Echelle-Saint-Honoré, to the sign "À la descente des Tuileries". His clients, very wealthy, were part of the highest aristocracy. Other cabinetmakers, such as Landrin, Dautriche, Hadouin, Macret supplied him with furniture that he sold with his own production. But, hoping to make his business prosper, he incurred enormous expenses that forced him to file for bankruptcy and sell his business, in 1762, to his colleague Louis Moreau.
