This kamoo kilim was made in a small workshop in Iranian Kurdistan where weavers continue an ancestral tradition. Sofrehs were used as tablecloths or to protect bread. Depending on their use, they could be square to store the bread dough and the bread once baked. They are called sofreh 'ardi' or 'nanpazi' (nan: bread, pazi: to bake). Larger ones, they are called sofreh 'roukorsi' (stove or hearth cover). Those that served as tablecloths were long and narrow. Solid and durable kilim. Can be placed on the wall or the floor.
