Turkish carpet Kazak around 1955 Entirely hand-knotted, Vegetable dyes, Pure wool, Size: 2,05mX1,25m Kazak (Kazak rug, or Kazakh) hand knotted carpets from the area north and west of Lake Sevan, in the south-western part of the Caucasus. Originally, these carpets have been named as the name of the village of Kazak (Azerbaijan), where they were manufactured until about 1925. These are the best known and most popular of Caucasian rugs. They are characterized, inter alia, by a long pile and in that they may have up to eight frame son between their rows of knots. These mats have relatively spaced tying velvet high quality wool which gives them a good solidity. Most are roughly dozar of size (200 x 120 cm) and their width is often remarkable compared to their length. The colors are bright and large patterns and original.
