"Miniature Portrait Of The Duke Of Bordeaux, Sèvres Biscuit In The Wegwood Style, Brachard 1821 Royalist"
Miniature portrait in profile of Henri d'Artois, Duke of Bordeaux and better known under the title of Count of Chambord, also pretender to the throne of France under the title of Henry V. The Royal Prince is represented at the age of 1 year. Polychrome blue and white porcelain biscuit in the style of Wedgwood. The bust is signed by Brachard and dated 1821. Sèvres Manufacture, Restoration period. This prince is the famous "miracle child", son of the Duke of Berry and grandson of Charles X. He was born in 1820 after the assassination of his father, while the Duchess of Berry was already pregnant. The Count of Chambord was the legitimist pretender who opposed the Orléans party. He lived in exile from 1830 to 1871 and remains in history for having refused the Restoration which was proposed to him in 1873 because of his attachment to the white flag and his refusal of the tricolor flag. Our miniature is presented in a blackened wooden frame with a round view in gilded brass from the 19th century. Interesting historical royalist souvenir in excellent condition. Beautiful colors. Frame diameter: 11.3cm Frame diameter: 7.5cm
