Victor-Jean-Gabriel Chavignau (1746-1806). Master on January 23, 1787. First a free worker, then a member for ten years of the community of Parisian carpenters. Victor Jean Gabriel Chavignau, established his workshop in the Saint-Joseph courtyard, rue de Charonne. He began his career as a free craftsman and was only received as a master cabinetmaker ten years later, in 1787. His stamp can be found on Louis XVI and Transition style furniture, in mahogany or fruit wood, sober and of fine quality. We can mention a Louis XVI console in mahogany, with rounded sides, fluted legs and a belt decorated with a bronze bas-relief representing two children. After his death, his widow and son continued his activity.
