Italian pastiglia casket from the 15th century.
It measures 16 cm x 10.5 cm x 10.5 cm 6.29 x 14.13 x 14.13 inches
and has a historical decoration on each side relating to antiquity : a chariot drawn by two lions, two satyrs perched on an elephant presenting a child in a bag....
This type of object is rare
there are some at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Louvre Museum and a few at the Musée National de la Renaissance in Ecouen. (from the Rothschild collection).
