Set of Three English Silver-Plated Vegetable Dishes, dating from the post-war period.
They are oval in shape and come with lids featuring a screwed gadrooned finial.
The pieces bear pseudo marks—hallmarks that imitate the structure of official British marks—widely used in English silverware after the war, a period marked by a strong surge in exports of silverware and antique items to foreign markets. These markings, often decorative, were intended to evoke the authenticity and style of older pieces without serving as official guarantee hallmarks.
One of the three dishes bears the pseudo marks of the house Mappin & Webb.
