Biography:
He receiveshis first teachings at the School of Drawing in Warsaw. At 17, he moves toRussia and enrolls at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, where hestudies in the workshop of Ilia Repin. Subsequently, he refines his experiencesat the School of Franz Seraph von Lenbach in Munich. He travels across Europe(Paris, Berlin, Vienna) absorbing all the creative novelties of those years.The country that excites him the most, however, is Italy, where, between 1896and 1917, he makes several trips with long stays. It is during this period thathe creates one of his most famous paintings, "Artist's Dream,"exhibited in Florence in 1902, presented in St. Petersburg in 1903, and thenshown in New York, where it was purchased by the San Francisco Museum. Hisportraits of the dancers of Diaghilev's Theatre Company are particularlystriking. Already in 1900, he works as the official painter at the court ofTsar Nicholas II, succeeding Valentin Serov. From 1909 to In 1932, he was amongthe leaders of the Kuingi where he taught alongside Bilibin. Bobrovsky and Rylovjoined the AKHRR in 1928. His works are also found in the Russian Art Museum inSaint Petersburg, in the museums of Penza and Saratov, as well as in the SanFrancisco Museum.
