Biscuit box or covered jar in quadrilobed glass paste signed Gallé*, with acid-etched decoration of foliage and berries or currants, with the label of the store "A la Paix 34 Av de l'Opéra**, Art Nouveau period late 19th-early 20th centuries. He was the founder and first president of the École de Nancy in 1901. A child of Art and commerce, he was one of the most prominent figures in the applied arts of his time and one of the pioneers of Art Nouveau. ** Georges Rouard (1874-1929) was an art lover scholar, a collector. In 1920, he presented himself as a ceramist-glassmaker, owner of the Maison la Paix, and president since 1920 of the Chambre Syndicale de la Céramique et de la Verrerie, departmental inspector of technical education as well as member of the board of directors of the Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs. But it was in 1900 that he took over the management of the auction house "A la Paix" at 34 avenue de l'Opéra in Paris, founded twenty years earlier by Jules Mabut.
