Indonesia, charming polychrome mask from the Barong theater, 1970. This colorful and expressive mask was used in a famous Indonesian masked dance performance: the Barong. The masks used in the Barong theater are generally spectacular and highly representative of Balinese culture. Their menacing and fierce appearance is meant to ward off evil spirits. These masks are considered sacred and, before each performance, they are sprinkled with holy water and offerings are made to them. This demonstrates how symbolic and meaningful this dance is, portraying the constant struggle between good and evil. Dimensions: Height 25 x Width 20 x Depth 11 cm. The scale object in the last photograph is a small model of a well-known brand of lighter. In good condition, with only minor wear to the surface due to handling and age. This does not detract from its overall beauty. We take great care in our packaging, using optimal protective materials. Shipping is insured. Shipping rates: Metropolitan France: €22, EU countries and Switzerland: €28, Eastern European and Maghreb countries: €40, USA, Australia, Asia and rest of the world: €85.
