"Corpus Christi 17th Century "
Corpus of Christ in oak wood. The head of Christ rests on his right shoulder, the eyes are closed, there is the crown of thorns, the bifid beard as well as the lock of hair are of a strong realism. The belly is hollow and the whole of the anatomy is well represented. The perizonium is with wavy folds and its fall is rolled up. It has its forged nail connecting the feet. Christ seems to sleep with great serenity, it calls for meditation. There is a small crack on the top of the forehead and some holes of xylophages. The corpus is in natural wood not waxed but brushed, which leaves it with a rather light appearance. France, 17th century.
