Empire Period Chest Of Drawers With Mahogany Columns And Mercury-gilt Bronzes - 130cm
Large French antique chest of drawers / commode, mahogany veneered,
Empire period. France early 19th century circa 1815. It opens with 4
drawers. It is a high quality piece with a beautiful Cuban flamed
mahogany, round pilasters, a thick grey marble top, finely chiseled
ormolu decoration (matt and shiny finish).
Very good general condition, the varnish has been cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker. Beautiful color, the mahogany is not sunned.
In the overall photos, our chest of drawers is shown flanked by 2 Empire swan-neck armchairs attributed to Bellangé. It is surmounted by an oil on canvas, representing Homer after François Gérard. On the marble are staying a terrestrial globe, a pair of Russian or Swedish Empire candlesticks, and a pair of large ornamental porcelain vases, all these elements from the same period and available for sale in our gallery.
