Northern Thailand, Tai Lu culture, early 20th century, superb sculpture in red and black lacquered wood enhanced with gold depicting a seated Buddha, on a high octagonal base, his hands in the posture of taking the earth as a witness "bhumisparsa mudra". Beautiful quality work giving the subject great nobility. Good condition except for normal wear and cracks in the wood normal to its age. Dimension: Height 37.2 (cm).
