Beautiful work, bright and with strong contrast, by the Avignon painter Gustave Vidal which represents carts rolling on a dirt road in the Alpilles. We can see, in the foreground, the carts rolling on the dirt road animated by characters. The artist has perfectly transcribed the different shades of color and the play of light of a summer day in Provence.
Student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d'Avignon under the direction of the painter Pierre Grivolas who will encourage his students including Gustave Vidal to go and paint outdoors. He will be under the influence of the new school of Avignon and the abstract painters. His style, clean, mixes knife technique and pictorial stylization.
He received numerous awards from the beginning, and exhibited throughout the world.
Nb: An old small restoration is visible on the back of the canvas. Fine cracks are to be noted, without impacting the reading of the work.
Dimensions: 45 x 90 cm without frame and 65.5 x 110.5 cm with its frame from the house E.BOUCHE in patinated wood.
