"Ljungberg & Backstrum / Diverse Ting & Ballegeer "ultima15" Set Of 2 Brutalist Ashtrays, 70s"

Set of 2 Brutalist "Ultima 15" ashtrays, 1970s
Design by L. Jungberg and Bäckström & Ballégeer.

This iconic model features a cubic cast aluminum structure with a lid adorned with a network of circular cavities. The model is documented as having been produced by Diverse Ting (Malmö, Sweden), with some sources suggesting production in Denmark. Edition information may vary and may require verification.

Dimensions

  • Largest: 5.5 × 15 × 15 cm

  • Smallest: 7 × 7 × 7 cm

Ultima 15 Ashtray
Designed by Holger Bäckström (1939–1997) and Bo Ljungberg (1939–2007), the Swedish duo known as Beck & Jung. They met at the Gothenburg School of Art and together founded the duo, active mainly in the 1960s–1980s, combining design, graphics, and optical art.

This model is characterized by its cubic structure whose lid is decorated with a network of circular cavities. It is documented as having been produced by Diverse Ting (Malmö, Sweden), though some sources mention Denmark. Edition details may vary and require verification.

Ballégeer Edition
The smaller model is marked Ballégeer, probably produced in Belgium in the 1970s. It is smaller in size but follows the same geometric spirit, with a surface punctuated by circular cavities. The word Ballégeer appears on the reverse, though little documentation is available on the manufacturer, leaving this attribution to be confirmed.
