Group After The Antique "hermes At Rest", Bronze With Brown Patina, Grand Tour, 19th Century.
Beautiful bronze group with brown patina, treated after the Antique, and representing the young god "Hermes at rest". This bronze takes up the Roman copy dating from the 1st century AD discovered in 1758 in Herculaneum during the excavations of the "Villa of the Papyri" and currently exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, itself certainly copying a Greek original in bronze from the 3rd century BC... The young god Hermes is represented at rest, seated on a naturalistic terrace, his famous winged sandals on his feet... This bronze presents a very beautiful quality of execution, fine and very detailed casting, beautiful original brown patina. We are in the presence of an Italian work, certainly Neapolitan, typically in the tradition of the Grand Tour, and dating from the second half of the 19th century. NB / Shipping possible to France via Colissimo followed: 30 euros.
