Beautiful pair of paintings after Michelangelo Maestri (Italy? -1812). Oil paintings on cardboard. 19th century. In chiaroscuro, 2 young girls are represented, in an antique offering scene and dressed in a very light veil. One of them could be the representation of Aphrodite/Venus, the goddess of beauty, of love, symbolized by a dove and the second, inspired by the English painter Guy Head (1762-1800), Iris the messenger of the Gods, carrying in an amphora the water of the Styx: messenger of love, messenger of marriage ..! Old frames in varnished pitch pine. Some very slight lacks of paint. Very good condition of presentation. Unsigned.
