"Adrien Seguin1926 2005, Portrait Of A Young Girl, Hst"
Very beautiful expressionist portrait by the Montpellier painter Adrien Seguin. Oil on canvas signed lower left. Format 41cm by 33cm without the frame and 50.5cm by 43cm with. Adrien Seguin (1926 2005), born in Pau, he studied at the Beaux Arts de Montpellier from 1946 to 1950 where he had his first exhibition at the Gout gallery in 1952. He participated in numerous Parisian Salons and exhibitions abroad. Adrien was a student at the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole from 1946 to 1950 where he had his first exhibition at the Gout gallery in 1952. After his military service, he joined the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1952 until 1956. At the same time, he was also a student at the André Lhote academy (cubist painter and great art theorist) for four years from 1954 to 1958. The father Adrien's son took a dim view of his son's artistic career. The latter then asked André Lhote to write him a letter that might reassure him. This was done on April 21, 1956, when André Lhote wrote to Adrien's father a letter in which we can read: "Your son asks me to share with you the opinion I have of him. I do so all the more willingly because this opinion is excellent. Your son possesses a high degree of the gift of painting... You can count on my devotion to help him, because, once again, your son possesses a true painter's temperament, which is quite rare." André Lhote taught Adrien, in particular, how to organize his paintings and control his instincts.
