Metal Eiffel Tower Pendulum On Red Marble Base
Metal Eiffel Tower clock on a red marble base.
Enamelled dial set in the center.
Pendulum Novelty's.
Circa 1900/1920. Our Eiffel Tower is quite exceptional and remains a historical witness of the original version built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel during the Universal Exhibition to celebrate the centenary of the French Revolution. The Eiffel Tower then presented decorations that marked its time. It was lightened of everything that was not imposed by a technical need in 1937 by the architect André Granet. The first floor shows the arcaded galleries later replaced by rectilinear galleries. The campanile-shaped upper platform was destroyed during a fire in 1956 leading to major repairs during which the television antenna was modernized, bringing the height of the tower to 318.70 m.
