Elegant game table in solid cherry wood from the Louis XV period, 2nd half of the 18th century.
This beautiful game table comes from the Rhône Valley, we can still feel the Lyonnais influence in the central shell while heading towards the south of France.
A very beautiful regional piece of furniture that smells of the sun.
It is made of a very beautiful blond cherry wood, which recalls the color of blond walnuts and is therefore not reddish.
The fact that it is made of solid cherry wood has preserved it considerably from insect attacks but a preventive treatment was carried out in the workshop.
It consists of a large scalloped crosspiece hemmed with a net decorated with honeycomb crosspieces on the entire front and accommodating in the center a large asymmetrical shell that is found on certain Lyonnaise and Provençal furniture.
This shell is truly spectacular and very fat in sculpture.
we find the same type of work on the side crosspieces.
it is as pretty on the front as on the sides.it rests on four beautifully curved legs hemmed with a net along the entire length and ending in doe feet with ungulate hooves.
the front legs are carved with floral motifs at the level of the connecting dice with acanthus leaves reminiscent of fleur-de-lis carved in the mass
.it is mounted with dovetails under the marble and is pegged.
it is topped with a very beautiful marble from the Pyrenees with pink and yellow shades slightly later.
it must have been redone in the 19th century and has already been restored but the repair is invisible.
the 4 ends of the feet were grafted over about 10 cm.reinforcements were put back inside the crosspieces at the level of the connecting dice at the back under the marble to guarantee its solidity.
the original patina is a beautiful natural wax patina.
a very beautiful table Elegant and refined game, light and balanced.
